Changes to management

easyJet PLC 19 February 2003 Changes to the easyJet Airline Management Board As shareholders will be aware, easyJet has made substantial progress in the integration of Go Fly. In light of this, the company announces changes to its Management Board to reflect the changing nature of the airline and individuals' desires to progress their own careers. Over the next six months, Mike Cooper, Business Development Director; Vilhelm Hahn-Petersen, Operations Director; and Graham Abbey, Human Resources Director will be leaving the Airline Management Board. Both Mike Cooper and Vilhelm Hahn-Petersen have been with easyJet since well before the Initial Public Offering in November 2000 and have chosen to leave the company within the next six months as they see their future careers elsewhere. In particular, Vilhelm has chosen to return to Denmark, where his wife and children now live. Both will be with easyJet until transition issues relating to Go are completed. Graham Abbey, Human Resources Director, is leaving more immediately to set-up his own consultancy business - this coincides with the imminent publication of his second book Managing Talented People. All three positions will be replaced and there is no planned change to the executive structure of the company or to the easyJet plc Board. It is envisaged that Ed Winter, easyJet's Chief Operating Officer, will take over a range of Vilhelm's responsibilities during a bridging period until a replacement is appointed. Stephen Connock MBE has been appointed as interim HR Director, effective from 24th February, for a period of six months while easyJet searches for a permanent replacement. Ray Webster, easyJet Chief Executive, said: 'With the Go/easyJet integration almost complete and a 'new' easyJet taking shape, it is only natural that all parties take stock of what the long-term future holds. From the company perspective, easyJet needs people that are passionate about the business, are challenged by their roles and are therefore highly-energized. At the same time, some individuals will consider their personal circumstances and see the completion of the Go integration as the catalyst to consider their own career paths. 'I am certain that they will each do superbly well in their chosen paths, and they leave with the very best wishes of everyone at easyJet.' ENDS Notes Stephen Connock has over thirty years of experience in the human resources arena including senior roles in Philips Electronics, Pearl Assurance, Eastern Electricity Group and a consultancy services for a range of companies. He was awarded an MBE in 1999 for services to HR management and customer service. Graham Abbey's second book Managing Talented People (ISBN: 1843040247) will be published in early March.
