ACAL PLC - NEW BOARD APPOINTMENT



Acal plc ("Acal") announces that Ian Fraser, Group Chief Executive of Brammer plc ("Brammer"), has been appointed a Non-Executive Director of Acal with effect from 1 January 2010.


Prior to joining Brammer in 1998, Mr Fraser worked for Reliance Security Group plc, initially as Managing Director (1991-93) and subsequently as Group Managing Director (1993-98). His earlier career was mainly spent with Raychem Corporation in senior management positions.


There are no matters requiring disclosure under paragraph 9.6.13 of the Listing Rules.

On 19 November 2009, Acal received shareholder approval to acquire, subject to the consent of the French authorities (expected no later than 16 December 2009), Financiere BFI Optilas SAS ("BFI Optilas") for a consideration of 10 million euros payable in cash and 2 million Acal ordinary shares. BFI Optilas is a private specialised distributor of electronic and photonic components, modules and systems across Europe, as well as supplying value-added calibration and maintenance services and it is anticipated that the combined group will have over 14,000 customers across Europe.
