TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Close Brothers Group plc (the 'Company') announces that on 10 November 2009 it transferred 128 ordinary shares of 25 pence each from treasury to participants in its employee share plans. The transfer price was 428 pence.

Following the transfer of these shares, the Company holds 5,197,141 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 144,432,146 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
