TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Close Brothers Group plc announces that it has today purchased 400,000 ordinary shares at an average price of 528 pence. The highest and lowest price paid for these shares were 537 pence and 524 pence respectively. The purchased shares will all be held as treasury shares for the purpose of satisfying option grants and share awards made under the Company's employee share plans.

Following the purchase of these shares, Close Brothers Group plc holds 629,136 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 148,753,788 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
