Dividend Declaration

The Board of The City of London Investment Trust plc announces that:

(a)       Dividend on the Ordinary Shares

A fourth interim dividend of 4.30p per Ordinary Share of 25p, in respect of the year ended 30 June 2017, will be paid on 31 August 2017 to holders registered at the close of business on 28 July 2017.  The Company's shares will go ex-dividend on 27 July 2017.

The total dividend for the year to 30 June 2017 is 16.70p per share, an increase of 5.0% over the previous year.

            The dividends will be paid from the Company's revenue account.

(b)       Dividends on the Preference and Preferred Ordinary Stocks

The dividends for the half year will be paid on 31 August 2017 at

3.0% on £301,982 Cumulative First Preference Stock

2.1% on £507,202 Non-Cumulative Second Preference Stock

10.0% on £589,672 Non-Cumulative Preferred Ordinary Stock

to holders registered at the close of business on 28 July 2017.
