Declaration of Dividend Payment

Dividend on the Ordinary Shares

The Board of The City of London Investment Trust plc announces that a third interim dividend of 3.35p per ordinary share of 25p, in respect of the year ending 30 June 2011, will be paid on Tuesday 31 May 2011 to holders registered at the close of business on 6 May 2011.  The Company's shares will go ex-dividend on 4 May 2011. 

The Board also intends to pay a fourth interim dividend of 3.35p per share (this does not represent a profit forecast) for the year to 30 June 2011.  The fourth interim dividend will be declared in July 2011.   This will make a total dividend for the year to 30 June 2011 of 13.20p per share, an increase of 4.3% over the previous year.
