The Board of The City of London Investment Trust plc announces:

Dividend on the Ordinary Shares

That a third interim dividend of 2.96p per Ordinary Share of 25p, in respect of
the year ending 30 June 2008, be paid on 30 May 2008 to holders registered at
the close of business on 25 April 2008.  The Company's shares will go
ex-dividend on 23 April 2008.

The Board also intends to pay a fourth interim dividend of 2.96p per share (this
does not represent a profit forecast) for the year to 30 June 2008.  The fourth
interim dividend will be declared in July 2008.   This will make a total
dividend for the year to 30 June 2008 of 11.6p per share, an increase of 12.6%
over the previous year.
