On 20 November 2002, Cairn was notified by Aviva plc (formerly CGNU plc) on
behalf of it and its subsidiary Morley Fund Management Limited that the Aviva
group have in aggregate an interest in 4,544,768 Ordinary Shares of 10p each in
Cairn, representing 3.05% of Cairn's current issued ordinary share capital.
