Cairn announces that on 8 March 2000, Ed Story, Non-Executive Director,
purchased 50,000 Ordinary Shares of 10p each in the Company at a price of 137p
per share. 

In addition, on 9 March 2000, Norman Murray, Non-Executive Director, purchased
10,000 Ordinary Shares of 10p each in the Company at a price of 148p per
share. 

Following this announcement, the above named Directors' beneficial interests
