New Finance Director

BT Group PLC 4 February 2002 February 4, 2002 BT APPOINTS NEW GROUP FINANCE DIRECTOR BT today announced the appointment of Ian Livingston as group finance director. He joins from Dixons Group plc where he has been finance director since 1997. Ben Verwaayen, BT chief executive, said: 'I am delighted that Ian is joining BT. His appointment completes the top team. He brings with him energy, drive and enthusiasm as well as experience of working in a customer-oriented, challenging, retail environment.' Ian Livingston, who is 37, joined Dixons corporate finance department in 1991 after periods with 3i Group and Bank of America International Ltd. While at Dixons his experience included a number of operational roles, international acquisitions and disposals , as well as time working in the US, a period as chief finance officer with PC World and . He pioneering pioneered the first UK internet IPO with Freeserve, of which he was a director from its inception. He said: 'This is a very exciting opportunity to join one of the UK's foremost companies. I look forward to working with the team at BT to realise its tremendous potential.' He takes up his new position in succession to Philip Hampton in April and will join the BT Group plc board.
