BT APPOINTS BEN ANDRADI AS E-BUSINESS CHIEF
BT today announced the formation of BT eBusiness - a new
UK division dedicated to the on-line revolution - and the
appointment of Ben Andradi as its managing director
reporting directly to Bill Cockburn, group managing
director of BT UK.
BT eBusiness incorporates BT's existing Internet and
Multimedia Services division and reflects the rapid
growth in e-commerce, Internet, multimedia, IP and
broadband products and services for residential and
business customers.
The global e-business consumer market is expected to
be worth more than $100 billion in five years and inter-
company trading worldwide will more than double year on
year to around $1.3 trillion by that time.
Ben Andradi, who takes up his new role in January,
was previously vice-president of communications sector
services at IBM Global Services, responsible for Europe,
the Middle East and Africa.
He has a strong track record in the international e-
commerce, Internet and communications arena. Before
joining IBM, he was an associate partner at Andersen
Consulting where he focused for eight years on the
Internet and telecommunications.
Bill Cockburn said: 'I'm delighted that Ben has
agreed to join my team and take on this new role, serving
the fastest growing Internet area - e-business. He brings
to the role a substantial track record in all aspects of
the Internet and media as well as energy and strategic
consulting expertise.
'Ben's wide international experience, his dedication
to quality management and his in-depth knowledge of the e-
business services industry will be of particular
relevance to BT, as we pursue our strategy of expansion
in all aspects of the Internet market.'
Ben Andradi will be responsible for building on the
success of BT Internet products and services, with
particular focus on working with the company's business
partners to meet the massive demand for e-business
solutions.
He will have an experienced and dynamic team working
for him. Amongst his core team are Mark Hughes, general
manager of BT Internet and multimedia services as well as
recent appointments John Raczka, general manager of
consumer Internet portfolio from GTE Interactive, David
Furniss, head of small and medium business from Demon
Internet, and Jerry Thompson, general manager of business
and government Internet services from BT's wholly-owned
Spanish Internet service provider, Arrakis.
Ben Andradi, 39, is married with four children. He
holds a master's degree in Economics from Cambridge and
an MBA from Harvard Business School.
