                            Block Listing of Shares



British Smaller Companies VCT plc (the Company) announces that an application
has been made to the UK Listing Authority and the London Stock Exchange for the
block listing of 1.49 million ordinary shares of 10p each in the Company.


The Company may issue any or all of these shares by means of an offer for
subscription at a price or prices of at least 5.5 per cent. above the most
recently announced net asset value per share.
