British Land Co PLC 9 May 2002 9 May 2002 ADDITIONAL LAND AT MEADOWHALL The British Land Company PLC has purchased five freehold sites, in all 43.7 acres, adjacent to the Meadowhall Shopping Centre. The vendor was Stadium Limited and the consideration was £13.75 million. This purchase is made as an early exercise of all the options that British Land acquired in the original contract to purchase the Meadowhall complex and this consolidates British Land's ownership and control of the surrounding land to Meadowhall. The land is currently used for overflow car parking during peak periods and will continue to be used for this purpose, pending assessment of development opportunities. Part of the consideration is payable by way of sponsorship by British Land of the Sheffield Sports Arena project, up to a maximum of £2.5 million. The total land area is 1.42 million square feet - 107 acres including the shopping centre.
