NOTIFICATION OF TRANSACTIONS OF DIRECTORS, PERSONS DISCHARGING MANAGERIAL
RESPONSIBILITY OR CONNECTED PERSONS

Notification made in accordance with Section 324 (as extended by Section 328) of
the Companies Act 1985 and Disclosure Rule 3.1.4R(1)(a) of the Disclosure Rules
sourcebook.

The Company was notified on 29 June 2006 by the trustee of the British American
Tobacco Employee Share Ownership Plan that on 29 June 2006 the following
executive directors and other persons discharging managerial responsibility
(together the "Participants") had purchased ordinary shares of 25p each in
British American Tobacco p.l.c. (the "Shares") by way of the Partnership Share
Scheme at a price of 1342p per Share.

The number of Shares purchased by each Participant, together with their
