The Board of Borders & Southern Petroleum Plc ('the Company') were notified by
fax on 17 August 2006 that Merrill Lynch Investment Managers Ltd, ML Invest
Holdings Limited, ML Invest Inc, Merrill Lynch Group Inc and Merrill Lynch & Co
Inc now hold a total of 4,345,000 ordinary shares of 1p each in the capital of
the Company, representing 3.40 per cent of the issued ordinary share capital of
the Company.
