          BLOOMSBURY PUBLISHING PLC ('the Company')
                              
        EXERCISE OF OPTIONS AND DEALINGS BY DIRECTORS

The Company was today informed that Mr J N Newton and Mr M W
Hamilton, directors of the Company, today exercised  options
over, respectively, 41,047 and 20,235 ordinary shares of  5p
each ('Ordinary Shares').

The  Company was also today informed that Mr Newton  and  Mr
Hamilton   today  sold,  respectively,  41,047  and   20,235
Ordinary  Shares at 500p.  Following these transactions,  Mr
Newton's and Mr Hamilton's interests are unchanged.
