Princess Productions debuts FORscene Multicam

Forbidden Technologies, the AIM quoted developer of the market leading Cloud video platform FORscene, is pleased to announce that Princess Productions ("Princess") is successfully using FORscene to log its multi-camera production Got to Dance series 3.

Princess, part of the Shine Group, has effectively been using FORscene for logging, rough cut editing and review since early 2010. Playing back and logging multiple concurrent video streams has required several technical issues to be resolved - made more challenging in the case of FORscene as it is a Cloud system.

Earlier this year, the core FORscene video and audio technology was optimised to support full frame rate Cloud editing on tablets and smartphones. Applying these improvements to FORscene and some further upgrades to the standard desktop Java version has enabled it to handle multicam with up to nine concurrent video streams.

FORscene multicam provides Princess with the frame accurate logging capabilities expected from their standard FORscene accounts - with the advantage of being able to log the seven Got to Dance source cameras concurrently.

Forbidden's broadcast post sales have been rising rapidly: revenue in the six months to 30 June 2011 rose by 94%. The addition of multicam adds great value to many existing customers and paves the way for new adopters of FORscene.

Katie Le Corre, Series Producer, Got to Dance 3, said:

"Speed, accuracy and cost are essential on our Got to Dance production. I am pleased to have been able to take advantage of the extra efficiency offered by this multicam feature of FORscene, with no loss of accuracy or impact on my budget."

Paul Jones, Post Production Manager at Princess Productions, commented:

"FORscene is a very powerful system, but sometimes it takes an experienced user to spot an opportunity. In this case, I had a seven camera production where logging each camera separately was inefficient. Forbidden followed up my upgrade suggestion and within weeks provided a full multi-camera logging system compatible with the existing FORscene material. This upgrade transforms the economics of logging multi-camera material.

Commenting on the success of FORscene, Stephen Streater, CEO at Forbidden Technologies, also said:

"FORscene is a practical and economical post-production tool - in no small part because it is built to meet the needs of customers. When Paul asked if we could help out with his multicam production, we were delighted to oblige - and in the process perhaps open a few more eyes to the power of the FORscene Cloud platform."
