I have today been informed that British Airways Employee Benefits Trustees
(Jersey) Limited, the trustee of an employee benefit trust, has recently
acquired 3,400,000 ordinary shares in British Airways Plc at an average price
of 394p per share, for the purposes of the British Airways Share Option Plan
1999 ('the Plan').

Robert Ayling and Derek Stevens, being executive directors of the Company were
on 26 August 1999 granted 126,903 and 71,573 conditional options respectively
under the Plan and are (together with all other employees) potential 
beneficiaries of the trust and therefore have a potential interest in the 
shares acquired by British Airways Employee Benefits Trustees (Jersey) Limited.

This notification is made in accordance with paragraph 16.13 of the Listing
Rules.
