Statement re Resignation

Baring Asset Management Limited, the investment manager of The Baring
Emerging Europe Trust PLC (BEET), has advised the Board that  
Mr Rory Landman, who has been responsible for managing the Company's
portfolio, has given notice of his resignation. 
 
Baring Asset Management has today announced the appointment of Klaus
Bockstaller from UBS Brinson, as the Head of Emerging Europe, Middle East &
Africa Team, and nominated him to the Board as the new Investment Manager
responsible for BEET.  
 
The Board is reviewing the situation.
