                          Aviva Annouces Board Change

Aviva plc announces that Sir Michael Partridge, a non-executive director of the
Company, will retire on 7th May 2003 at the close of the Company's AGM. Sir
Michael joined the board of Norwich Union as a non-executive director in 1996
and was appointed a non-executive director of Aviva (formerly CGNU) when Norwich
Union and CGU Merged.
