Appointment of Director

17 May 2012. Rare Minerals PLC, the PLUS listed investment Company with a focus on the minerals sector, is pleased to announce the appointment of Alyn Evans as a Director, with immediate effect.

Prior to his appointment to the Company, Mr Evans was Manager of Underground Operations at Echelon Mining Services based in Australia.

Mr Evans has over 30 years experience in the mining sector and in senior management roles. He has held various positions including; Government appointed Inspector of Mines in Queensland, Australia; Principal Mining Engineer at AMC Consultants; Chief Inspector of Mines for Papua New Guinea; and Senior Technical Assistant at Anglo American (Coal Division).

Nicholas Nelson, Chairman of Rare Minerals commented:

''We are delighted that Alyn has agreed to join the Board. His longstanding mining sector expertise and extensive working knowledge of the mining process will no doubt prove a considerable asset to the Company as we progress towards an acquisition.''

Mr Evans' service contract will initially be in the form of a consultancy agreement against which he will be paid a monthly fee subject to a three month notice period.  Aside from his fee, he has no other interests in Rare Minerals PLC and has nothing further to disclose under the PLUS Rules for Issuers Appendix 1, Part 1 18 - 22.
