We hereby inform you that on 3 March 2006, Tony Bloxham, Executive
Vice-President, Human Resources, a person discharging managerial
responsibilities, exercised an option over 5,231 AstraZeneca PLC USD0.25
Ordinary Shares at an option price of 1337 pence per share.  The option was
granted to Mr Bloxham in March 1996 under the Company's 1994 Executive Share
Option Scheme and was due to expire on 29 March 2006 if not exercised before
then.



We also inform you that on 3 March 2006, Mr Bloxham sold the 5,231 shares
acquired from the exercise at a price of 2649 pence per share.
