Amlin plc announces that in the fifth 1999 Lloyd's capacity auction it has
purchased £7.8million of capacity on its managed syndicates at an average
price of 7.3p per £ of capacity.

Through the 1999 auctions to date Amlin has now purchased £80.2m of capacity
and increased its share of capacity on its managed syndicates from 38% to 53%.
There is one auction remaining in 1999.
