                     Appointment of non-executive Chairman


Anglo Asian Mining PLC (AIM:AAZ) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr
Khosrow Zamani as Non-Executive Chairman with immediate effect. Mr Zamani
recently joined the Board as Non-Executive Director. Mr Graham Mascall is
leaving the Board to concentrate on his other business commitments.

Mr. Zamani was previously director of the Southern Europe and Central Asia
Department of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector
lending arm of the World Bank. Whilst a director at IFC, Mr. Zamani was
instrumental in building the IFC investment programme in the region with several
new initiatives, particularly in Central Asia and the Caucuses.

Gordon Lewis, Chief Executive of Anglo Asian, commented on the appointment: 'We
are delighted that Khosrow will chair the Board. His experience and contacts in
the region of Caucasia have already proven to be an asset at a time when the
Company is transitioning from advanced exploration to production and is raising
necessary funding required for Gedabek following the recent completion of the
feasibility study. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Graham for his
contribution to the Board overseeing the restructuring of the Company.'
