Notification concerning interests in ordinary shares of US$0.50 each in the
capital of Anglo American plc ("the Company")

We received on 7 November 2003 notification on behalf of Mr N F Oppenheimer
pursuant to section 324(2) of the Companies Act 1985 as follows:

The notification concerning interests in shares in the Company, dated 18 March
2002 (announced by the Company on 19 March 2002) was erroneous in that it stated
that the non-beneficial interest, which Mr N F Oppenheimer holds as trustee of a
charitable trust, was 917,788 Ordinary Shares. In fact Mr Oppenheimer in such
capacity held, and continues to hold 917,778 Ordinary Shares.
