We have received notification from Standard Life Investments that, following a
sale today of 500,000 ordinary 25p stock units on behalf of Standard Life
Group, the total material interest of Standard Life Group in the stock of The
Alliance Trust PLC has been decreased to 2,564,741 ordinary 25p stock units,
being 5.089% of the issued stock of that class and which is registered in the
name of Stanlife Nominees Limited.
