HOLDING IN COMPANY

The Company was informed on 11 August 2000 by Royal
London Asset Management Limited ('RLAM') that it is
interested in 5,140,036 ordinary 10p shares in the
Company ('Shares') representing 5.49% of the
Company's issued ordinary share capital.

These Shares are registered in the name of RLAM
(Nominees) Limited a/c SOC.
