REPURCHASE OF SHARES

On 13 August 2002, Standard Life European Private Equity Trust PLC bought back
150,000 of its own ordinary shares for cancellation at a price of 82p per share.
Following the buy back, there are 159,375,000 ordinary shares of 0.2p each in
issue.
