Re Contract

19 June, 2007 ROLLS-ROYCE TRENTS FOR AVIANCA - FIRST IN LATIN AMERICA Colombia's Avianca has chosen Rolls-Royce Trent engines for up to 30 widebody jets from Airbus and Boeing. The potential value of the contract to Rolls-Royce is $1.1 billion at catalogue prices. In addition, all the engines will be supported by Rolls-Royce under 10-year TotalCare service agreements. The order - the first for the Trent in Latin America - consists of Trent 1000 engines for ten firm plus ten option Boeing 787s, and Trent 700s to power five firm and five option A330s. Avianca's President, Fabio Villegas, said: "Our evaluation proved the Trent solution was ideal for our operations. Reliability and payload performance were key factors in our choice of the Trent 700, and while incorporating latest technologies, the new Trent 1000 retains strong family characteristics which make it the best option for our 787s." Mike Terrett, President, Civil Aerospace at Rolls-Royce commented: "Avianca has a clear vision of how its future will be shaped, and we're proud to be part of its plans. The Trent family's record, and the design commonality which runs throughout the engine series, has clearly been influential in this decision." The Trent 1000 is the launch engine for all versions of the 787 Dreamliner, which enters service in 2008. It is well on the way to achieving certification by the airworthiness authorities, on schedule, later this year. The first pair of engines has been delivered to Boeing ready for the 787's rollout next month. The Trent 700 is the market leader on the A330 with a 44 per cent share of orders. The engine is the most powerful available for the A330, and has improved fuel efficiency thanks to the incorporation of latest technologies from the Trent 1000. NOTE TO EDITORS: 1.
