In 1997 he was appointed EVP Central Europe for Benckiser NV ahead of its IPO. At the merger to create Reckitt Benckiser plc, he was appointed EVP Europe. Elio Leoni Sceti (Italian, 40) is appointed EVP Europe, effective 1st July 2006. Following the merger in 1999, he was appointed SVP North American Household, and subsequently EVP Category Development in 2001. In 2001, Rakesh was appointed Regional Director Northern Europe, responsible for UK Household and Healthcare, Ireland and Scandinavia. Tony Gallagher, SVP Information Services, retired from the Company on 31st March 2006 as previously communicated. Gareth Hill (South African, 39) is appointed SVP Information Services and a member of the Executive Committee. He will take up his position later this year. He has been Information Systems Director at Arcadia Group Ltd since 2000, having previously worked at IBM UK Ltd. He is a qualified chartered accountant and has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Bart Becht, Chief Executive Officer of Reckitt Benckiser plc, made the following comments today: - "I would like to thank Erhard for his immense contribution to Reckitt Benckiser over the last 27 years. In his time with the Company he has been product manager, Sales Director and General Manager Germany, General Manager Italy and EVP Europe. Erhard has been a key contributor in building Benckiser from a small private household cleaning company into a leading publicly quoted fast moving consumer goods company in household and health & personal care. "As a clear example of the scale of his contribution since the merger, as EVP Europe, he has increased European net revenues to £2.1bn, representing a compound growth rate of over 6%, substantially ahead of market growth. At the same time, profits over this time have doubled to over £500m. Importantly, he has built a strong organisation across the region, including Eastern Europe, and has helped to develop the next generation of management talent, three members of the current EC have over time reported to him. "We will miss his experience, counsel and passion for the Company and its brands and people. "I also would like to pay public tribute to Tony Gallagher's major contributions as SVP Information Services since 1997. From a set of completely disparate systems around the world, Tony and his team have given Reckitt Benckiser globally standardised platforms and systems at highly competitive cost. "All of us inside the Company wish both Erhard and Tony a long, healthy and happy retirement. "While we are sorry to see them both depart, the announcement of new appointments to the Executive Committee shows that our management succession is delivering the necessary flow of talent for the future. I have full confidence in Elio and Rakesh, in their new roles on the Executive Committee, where they bring many years of experience at Reckitt Benckiser in a variety of marketing and general management positions. We wish them well in their new positions. We also look forward to welcoming Gareth Hill to the Company. He will bring a range of business, financial and IS experience to the Company."
