Oxford Instruments plc was notified on 18 June 2009 that Howson Tatersall
Investment Counsel Limited on behalf of itself and Mackenzie Financial
Corporation (which has an individual notification obligation) has an interest
in 2,765,397 Ordinary Shares of 5p each which, represents 5.6% of the issued
share capital of the Company.

  * 5.6% of the voting rights are held by Howson Tatersall Investment Counsel
    Limited as investment manager which has a disclosable interest as a result
    of DTR 5.2.1R(h).
   
  * Mackenzie Financial Corporation is a 100% shareholder of Howson Tatersall
    Investment Counsel Limited and has an indirect holding of 5.6% as a result
    of DTR 5.2.1R(e)
