Historical performance update                         

Following the release of its latest net asset value ("NAV") per share of 408.6p
as at 21 September 2010, earlier today, Manchester & London Investment Trust
plc ("MLIT") is pleased to further announce that its NAV has reached an all
time high, superseding the previous high watermark of 408.5p per share,
announced on 1 June 2007.

The long term performance of MLIT has seen net assets per ordinary share grow
from 2.3p in December 1981 to 408.6p as at 21 September 2010, a compound annual
growth rate of 19.6 per cent.  Over the same period, the FTSE All Share index
has achieved a compound annual growth rate of 6.9 per cent.
