Invesco Asia Trust plc HEADLINE: Appointment of Directors and Retirement of Director The Board of Invesco Asia Trust plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Carol Ferguson and Mr Tom Maier as Non-Executive Directors of the Company with effect from 10 March 2009. Ms Ferguson is a non-executive director of Standard Life Smaller Companies Investment Trust plc, Monks Investment Trust plc, Merrill Lynch Greater Europe Investment Trust plc and Vernalis plc. She is also a director and chairman of the Association of Investment Companies. She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, a former member of Council of ICAS and a non-executive director of the Chartered Accountants Compensation Scheme Ltd (UK). Her investment and financial experience include positions at Ivory and Sime investment managers, Wood Mackenzie stockbrokers, where she was a partner and lead oil analyst and, subsequently, The Times newspaper where she was a financial journalist. In the past five years, Ms Ferguson was a director and chairman of the Audit Committee of the Dental Practice Board (resigned 2006), a non-executive director of Ardana plc (in administration) and a non-executive director of Gartmore Smaller Companies Investment Trust plc (in administration). Ms Ferguson does not currently hold any of the Company's ordinary shares. Mr Maier is currently the Chief Investment Officer of Carlton Capital Partners. A graduate from the Imperial College of Science and Technology, he joined Baring Asset Management (formerly Henderson Baring) in 1982. Over his 24 year career with the company, he managed a broad range of investment mandates from Hong Kong, Tokyo and London. As Head of Alternative Investments, he reported to the Chief Investment Officer until his departure in December 2006. Mr Maier holds 3,400 of the Company's ordinary shares. No information is to be disclosed in respect of paragraphs 9.6.13 (2) - (6) of the Financial Services Authority's Listing Rules for either of the two new Directors. The Board also announces with regret that Sir Robin McLaren intends to retire with effect from 30 April 2009, the end of the Company's financial year. The Board thanks Sir Robin for the invaluable contribution he has made during his 14 years' service as a Director.
