                          TRANSFER OF TREASURY SHARES                          

In accordance with the provisions of Listing Rule 12.6.4, the Board of Hays plc
advises that on 23 January 2007 it transferred 44,349 Ordinary Shares currently
held in Treasury to satisfy the maturity of the Hays plc UK Sharesave Scheme.
41,903 shares were transferred at 109p, and 2,446 shares were transferred at
100p.

Following this transfer, Hays plc holds 102,716,028 Ordinary Shares in
Treasury. The number of shares in issue is 1,461,380,538 (excluding treasury
shares).
