Transaction in Own Shares

The Edinburgh Investment Trust plc announces that on 18 May 2007 the Company
repurchased 170,000 of its own shares for cancellation at a price of 501.40
pence per share. The total number of ordinary 25p shares now in issue is
212,804,748.
