HEADLINE: Declaration of second interim dividend

The Directors of The Edinburgh Investment Trust plc announce that they have
declared a second interim dividend for the year ended 31 March 2010 of 4.75
pence per ordinary share, payable on 12 February 2010 to Ordinary Shareholders
on the register on 5 February 2010. The shares will be quoted ex-dividend on 3
February 2010.

The first interim dividend of 4.75 pence per share was paid on 27 November 2009
to shareholders on the Company's register on 20 November 2009 (ex dividend date
being 18 November 2009).
