THE BERKELEY GROUP HOLDINGS PLC APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR The Board of The Berkeley Group Holdings plc ("Berkeley"), the urban regenerator and residential developer, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Alan Coppin as a Non-Executive Director with effect from the 1 September 2006. Alan Coppin, is currently a non-executive Director of Capital and Regional plc and non-executive Chairman of Redstone plc. Until recently he was Hon. Chairman of The Prince's Foundation for the Built Environment. Alan's previous non-executive directorships include Carillion plc and he served on the Board of Wembley plc as CEO. Berkeley confirms that there is no other information to be disclosed pursuant to Section 9.6.13 of the Listing Rules in relation to the appointment. Roger Lewis, Chairman of Berkeley commented: "I am delighted that Alan Coppin will be joining the Board of Berkeley. He has a wealth of experience and expertise both in public companies and private companies and I know that this will be of significant benefit to Berkeley and that he will make a most valuable contribution to the Board. This appointment will also ensure that the Main Board of Berkeley retains the right proportion of independent directors to meet the Combined Code's recommendations regarding the balance of the Board.
