Disclosure of Directors Interests in Shares

Alliance Trust PLC ("the Company") on 4 June 2007 received notification from
Abacus Corporate Trustee Limited as Trustee of Alliance Trust PLC Employee
Benefit Trust (the Trust) (a discretionary trust of which all employees of the
Company and its subsidiaries are beneficiaries), that on 1 June 2007, 800,000
ordinary 2.5p shares in the capital of the Company were purchased by Abacus
Corporate Trustee Limited on behalf of the Company to meet future awards made
under the Alliance Trust PLC Long Term Incentive Plan (2007) and other Long
Term Incentive arrangements. On 5 June 2007 the Company was notified of a
further purchase made on 4 June 2007 of 145,678 ordinary 2.5p shares for the
same purpose.

Alan Harden, David Deards, Janet Pope and Katherine Garrett-Cox, all executive
directors, and Rowland Strickland, Person Discharging Managerial
Responsibilities, are all members of the class of discretionary beneficiaries
of the Trust and are each consequently deemed to have an interest in the shares
held in the Trust on behalf of the Company which now total 1,108,624 (0.165% of
the Company's issued share capital).
