Long Term Incentive Scheme Awards

Alliance Trust PLC ("the Company") confirms that three Directors and a Person
Discharging Managerial Responsibilities (`PDMR') were yesterday granted awards
under the Alliance Trust PLC Long Term Incentive Plan (2007) (the "2007 LTIP").
The transactions have been notified in accordance with Disclosure Rule 3.1.4R
(1)(a).

The awards under the 2007 LTIP, all granted over Alliance Trust PLC Ordinary
2.5p shares, comprise:

(1) Matching Awards granted with reference to the number of Alliance Trust PLC
Ordinary 2.5p shares purchased and deposited by the Director or PDMR from any
annual bonus award received by that individual. The awards are made subject to
performance conditions.

(2) Performance Awards. The awards are made subject to performance conditions.

It is anticipated that when the awards vest, they will be settled in shares
although the 2007 LTIP permits the awards to be settled in cash. There is no
payment required by the participants to allow vesting of the awards.

The initial Market Value of all of the awards, determined in accordance with
the rules of the 2007 LTIP, was 351p per share.
