Disclosure of Directors Interests in shares

Alliance Trust PLC ("the Company") on 28 April 2008 received notification from
RBC Cees Trustees Limited as Trustee of Alliance Trust PLC Employee Benefit
Trust ("the Trust") (a discretionary trust of which all employees of the
Company and its subsidiaries are beneficiaries), that on 25 April 2008, 762,109
ordinary 2.5p shares in the capital of the Company were purchased on behalf of
the Company to meet future awards made under the Alliance Trust PLC Long Term
Incentive Plan (2007).

Alan Harden, David Deards and Katherine Garrett-Cox, all executive directors,
and Rowland Strickland, Person Discharging Managerial Responsibilities, are all
members of the class of discretionary beneficiaries of the Trust and are each
consequently deemed to have an interest in the shares held in the Trust on
behalf of the Company which now total 1,870,733 (0.278% of the Company's issued
share capital).
