Transaction in Own Shares

Tate & Lyle PLC (the “Company”) announces that it has purchased the following number of its ordinary shares of 25 pence each on the London Stock Exchange through Citigroup Global Markets UK Equity Limited:

Number of ordinary shares purchased:		235,000
Highest purchase price paid per share:		696.00p
Lowest purchase price paid per share:		688.50p

The Company intends to hold these shares in Treasury to satisfy awards made under performance share plans.

Following the above transaction, the Company holds 2,290,376 of its shares in Treasury and has 465,868,641 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares). This number represents the total voting rights in the Company and may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, Tate & Lyle PLC under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
