                           TRANSFER OF TREASURY SHARES

Subsequent to the announcement released by Amlin today, the number of ordinary
shares in issue (excluding treasury shares) should have read 467,812,698. The
full amended text follows below.

Amlin plc ('Amlin') announces that on 21 August 2008 it transferred from
treasury to participants in its employee share option scheme(s), the following
number of its ordinary shares of 28.125 pence each ('ordinary shares'):

4,259 ordinary shares at an exercise price of 110.82 pence per share

Following the above transfer of shares out of treasury, Amlin holds a total of
10,760,741 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 467,812,698 ordinary
shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
