Cytolytix Patent Update

London, UK - ValiRx Plc (AIM: VAL), a life science company focusing on early-stage cancer therapeutics and women's health, is pleased to provide the following updates on its majority owned subsidiary Cytolytix Limited ("Cytolytix").

Cytolytix's European Patent application "Polyleucine-Based Peptides As Anti-Cancer Agents" (application No. 20793085.0) has received formal notification of the European Patent Office's intention to grant a European patent. This patent, licensed from King's College London, forms a key part of the Cytolytix intellectual property portfolio.

Once granted, this second European patent will strengthen Cytolytix's intellectual property position and the Directors believe affirms the investment in the innovative platform ValiRx has developed over the last few years.

This notice, alongside the European grant of the original peptide formulation patent "Nanoparticle for Anti-Cancer Peptides and Uses Thereof", announced on 27 May 2026, further strengthens the Company's ability to attract external investment as well as increasing the Company's offerings for licensing and ongoing partnership discussions. A further announcement will be made in due course on receipt of the patent grant.

Whilst these two patent families represent core IP for Cytolytix, ValiRx filed for additional patent protection on 26 May 2026 covering new inventions relating to its second-generation delivery platform based on novel lipid formulations of the oncolytic peptide.

The new patent application includes data demonstrating induction of immunogenic cell death in Triple Negative Breast Cancer Cells, a key component of the mechanism of action that could provide enhanced and more durable responses when translated to the clinical setting.

Mark Eccleston, CEO of ValiRx, commented "The notification of intention to grant a second core patent is a significant milestone for Cytolytix, confirming the novelty of the platform and providing a solid base to build on with further IP developed in house. Having a range of proprietary formulations allows us to explore differentiated products for various routes of administration and across multiple clinical applications in the human and veterinary markets. This has been possible through the expertise developed in Inaphaea as well as through our NAMs capability partners at ScreenIn3D, Voxcell and Bioreparia.

"The demonstration of release of immune-activating signals is a very encouraging step towards demonstrating the anticipated immune boost feature of this class of therapeutics which is being explored using advanced NAMs approaches in house and through our partners. It is also a key driver for our comparative oncology approach in pet patients with spontaneous tumours and in real patients with intact immune systems."
