Time Out Group secures landmark London Market location in Piccadilly Circus
Time Out Group plc (AIM: TMO), the global media and hospitality business, today announces that it has secured a landmark location at The Crown Estate's 10 Piccadilly development (55 Regent Street) to open Time Out Market London, its first Market in its home city.
Expected to open in summer 2028, the Market will overlook the iconic Piccadilly Circus in the heart of London's West End. Located on Regent Street, which attracts an annual footfall of approximately 74 million, it will provide an exceptional setting for the global flagship of the Time Out Market portfolio.
The Market will occupy more than 26,000 sq ft across three floors and will bring together approximately 15 restaurants, bars and food businesses, showcasing a carefully selected mix of established local favourites and emerging talent, alongside a year-round programme of live entertainment and cultural experiences, all curated by Time Out's local editors and experts.
Founded in London in 1968, Time Out has helped millions of people discover the very best of cities worldwide. Inspired by that editorial heritage, Time Out Market has become a globally recognised food and cultural market brand. Since opening the first Time Out Market in Lisbon in 2014, the concept has expanded across Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia, with 13 operational Markets together welcoming more than 12 million visitors annually. Time Out Market London will further expand the portfolio, with five additional Markets currently in development.
Time Out's Media business reaches approximately 280 million people every month across editorial, social media, video, newsletters, audio, events and commercial partnerships. Bringing Time Out Market to London creates a unique opportunity to convert that engaged audience into visitors and customers while further strengthening the Time Out brand in its home country.
The project represents an important milestone for Time Out, expanding its owned-and-operated Market portfolio while further integrating the Group's Media and Market businesses.
Chris Ohlund, CEO of Time Out Group plc, said:
"Securing this partnership with The Crown Estate to create our global flagship in the heart of Piccadilly Circus is one of the most significant milestones in Time Out's nearly 60-year history. Bringing the globally recognised Time Out Market concept home to London is both a celebration of where we began and a statement of where we are going."
"London is one of the world's greatest cities for food and culture, and there is no better location than Piccadilly Circus to showcase everything that makes it extraordinary. Together with The Crown Estate, we are creating a destination that will celebrate London's best chefs, restaurateurs, artists and creators while welcoming millions of Londoners and visitors every year."
"As our global flagship, Time Out Market London will also become the blueprint for the next generation of Time Out Markets, bringing together hospitality, culture, media, sponsorship and live experiences in a way that only Time Out can deliver."
Charles Owen, Head of Regent Street at The Crown Estate, said:
"We're proud to welcome the UK's first Time Out Market to Regent Street as the brand's global flagship. It is a significant addition to one of the world's most recognised retail and lifestyle destinations. It reflects the area's continued appeal to innovative international brands and demonstrates our long-term commitment to investing in Regent Street, curating a diverse mix of experiences that attract visitors, workers and residents alike."
"Set within this carefully restored historic building, Time Out Market will introduce an exciting new food and drink destination in the heart of London's West End. As significant investment and development continue to take shape across the area, it will further strengthen Regent Street's hospitality offer, helping to drive footfall, broaden the destination's appeal and meet growing demand from the millions of people who visit, live and work here each year."
The exact opening date and culinary partners will be announced in due course.
