The Directors of Surgical Innovations Group plc (the 'Company') today announce
the  appointment  of Mr Nigel Graham Bowland as an executive director  of  the
Company  with effect from 6 September 1999.  Mr David Stirling resigned  as  a
director of the Company with effect from 6 September 1999.

Mr  Bowland  holds,  or has held over the previous five years,  the  following
directorships:

                              Ultrafine Worsteds Ltd.


Mr Bowland:

(i)  does not have any unspent convictions in relation to indictable offences;
(ii) has  not  been  a director of any company at the time of,  or  within  12
     months preceding, any receivership, compulsory liquidation,              
     administration, company  or voluntary arrangement or composition or      
     arrangement with  its creditors generally or any class of the creditors  
     of such company;
(iii)has not had any bankruptcy order served on him;
(iv) has  not  been  subject  to any public criticisms  by  any  statutory  or
     regulatory authority;
(v)  has  never  been disqualified by a court from acting as a director  of  a
     company or from acting in the management or conduct of the affairs of any
     company; and
(vi) has  not been a partner in any partnership at the time of, or within  the
     12  months  preceding, any receivership, liquidation,  administration  or
     voluntary arrangement of such partnership, nor has a receiver been       
     appointed over any of such partnership's assets.
