Gold Target in Premier Nevada Gold Belt

Summary by AI BETAClose X

Sunrise Resources Plc has provided a project summary for its Newark Gold Project in Nevada, USA, highlighting its potential as a Carlin-type gold target. The project is situated in a prime location at the intersection of major mineralised trends and shows favourable geochemical and structural characteristics. Historical drilling by Freeport intersected 47m at 0.14 g/t Au from 75m to the end of hole NWK-008 at 122m, which terminated in mineralisation, indicating potential for further exploration at depth. The company is seeking a joint venture partner to advance deeper drilling and test key geological horizons.

AIM REACH ANNOUNCEMENT                                                     25 August 2026

Newark Project, Nevada USA

Gold Target in Premier Nevada Gold Belt

Sunrise Resources plc (AIM: SRES) is pleased to provide this project summary for its 100%-owned Newark Gold Project ("Newark" or the "Project"), a highly prospective Carlin-type gold target located in the world-class mining jurisdiction of Nevada, USA.

Following the Company's strategic pivot announced on 14 July 2026, to focus on its precious and base metals portfolio, Newark represents a compelling target with demonstrated mineralisation that remains open at depth and is underexplored.

Key Highlights:

·      Prime Location: Situated at the strategic intersection of two major mineralised trends -Battle Mountain-Eureka and Alligator Ridge - containing multi-million-ounce deposits and operating mines.

·      Carlin-type Scale Potential: Targeting large-scale, sediment-hosted gold deposits characteristic of Nevada's most prolific gold deposits.

·      Favourable Geochemical & Structural Trap: Surface sampling confirmed anomalous gold accompanied by classic Carlin-type indicator elements (arsenic, antimony, thallium, and barium) along a major silicified structure and favourable anticline.

·      Historical Drill Success Open at Depth: Previous drilling by Freeport intersected 47m @ 0.14 g/t Au (from 75m to end of hole at 122m) in hole NWK-008, which terminated in mineralisation.

Patrick Cheetham, Executive Chairman of Sunrise Resources, commented:

"Following our strategic update on 14 July 2026 to increase the focus on our high-upside precious and base metals assets, we are proposing a number of RNS Reach announcements to highlight various projects which have delivered strong exploration results in the past but which have received relatively limited exploration expenditure or public exposure in recent years.

"One such project, Newark, stands out as a prime candidate for further evaluation. It sits in a tier-one mining jurisdiction, displays all the signature hallmarks of a Carlin-type system, and critically, historical drilling ended directly in mineralisation.

"Previous drilling was relatively shallow and failed to test the most prospective geological units that host gold in this area. Our clear objective is to secure a Joint Venture partner to advance deeper drilling and aggressively test these key horizons."

Detailed Information

Background

Nevada is the one of the largest gold producing regions in the world with production of over 3.5 million ounces of gold recorded in 2024.

The State is renowned for "Carlin-type" sediment hosted gold deposits - characterised by micron-sized gold within silicified and decalcified limestones which host giant, high-grade operations such as the Carlin Complex (31.9 Moz gold in reserves and resources) and Cortez Complex (36.7 Moz gold in reserves and resources).

Favourable factors include chemically receptive limestone host rocks, particularly where folded into anticlines and cut by suitable fault structures. The silicification of the host rocks that accompanies gold mineralisation is often manifest at, or near surface, by so-called jasperoids containing anomalous levels of the elements arsenic, antimony, thallium, barium and mercury.

The majority of known Carlin-type deposits occur in one of a small number of linear belts ("trends") as shown in Figure 1.

Newark Gold Project

The Newark Gold Project is located at the southern end of the Battle Mountain-Eureka (Cortez) gold trend where it is intersected by the projection of the Alligator Ridge gold trend.

It is located 72.4 km (45 miles) west of Ely, Nevada in central White Pine County, 40 km south of the past-producing Alligator Ridge Mine, 12 km north of the Mt. Hamilton Gold Project and 20 km east of the Pan Gold Mine.

Newark is a former Freeport McMoRan Gold/Freeport Gold Mining Inc. (Freeport) prospect. During their tenure in 1986 and 1987, Freeport conducted geologic mapping, rock chip sampling, a VLF electromagnetic survey, and drilled sixteen shallow reverse circulation holes.

Of the sixteen holes drilled by Freeport, six encountered anomalous gold values and its best hole, NWK-008, cut 47m (155 ft) of structurally controlled jasperoid breccia that averaged 0.14 ppm Au. This hole ended in mineralisation at 122m depth.

The target at Newark is a Carlin-type sedimentary-hosted disseminated gold deposit formed at the intersection of a regional anticline, deep basin bounding faults and receptive host rocks at the base of, and below, the Chainman Shale.  Work to date has shown that the major elements of this target type are in place at Newark, along with the low grade mineralisation encountered in the Freeport drilling.
