LONDON - 3 September 2026 - Solvonis Therapeutics plc (LSE: SVNS), a late clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing small-molecule therapeutics for high-burden central nervous system ("CNS") disorders, announces that the European Patent Office ("EPO") has issued a Notice of Allowance for composition-of-matter patent application EP 22730070.4, arising from the Company's proprietary Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder ("PTSD") programme, whose lead candidate is SVN-114.

Strengthening the IP around SVN-114
SVN-114 is Solvonis' proprietary lead candidate for PTSD and related trauma-associated disorders and is contained within its own core patent-pending family.
The Company has also developed three additional chemically distinct supporting patent families through its PTSD programme. Following the latest European allowance, each of these three families has now achieved composition-of-matter grant or allowance in the U.S. or Europe, broadening the proprietary IP estate supporting the programme.
Composition-of-matter patents protect novel chemical compounds themselves, rather than only a particular formulation or therapeutic use, and are widely regarded as the strongest form of pharmaceutical IP protection.
Standard EPO formalities will now be completed prior to formal grant. A corresponding U.S. application remains pending, while examination has also been requested in Canada.
A large and increasingly strategic PTSD market
PTSD represents a significant unmet medical need, affecting an estimated 15.8 million people across the U.S., UK, EU4 and Japan, with limited approved pharmacological treatment options.
The strategic relevance of the market was highlighted in June 2026 when Otsuka Pharmaceutical acquired Transcend Therapeutics for US$700 million upfront and up to US$525 million in contingent consideration.
Transcend's lead asset, methylone-based TSND-201, is in Phase 3 development for PTSD following positive Phase 2 results, providing a relevant clinical and commercial benchmark for this emerging class of PTSD treatments.
SVN-114 is designed as a next-generation approach to this class. Its differentiated pharmacological profile is intended to reduce cardiovascular and abuse-liability risks, while its soft-drug design targets faster metabolism and a shorter, more predictable treatment window.
If demonstrated clinically, these characteristics could support improved tolerability and a more practical and scalable supervised-treatment model. These potential advantages remain to be established through further preclinical and clinical development.
More broadly, Eli Lilly's agreed acquisition of AtaiBeckley for up to US$3.8 billion further demonstrates pharmaceutical investment in next-generation neuropsychiatry assets.
Next Steps
Solvonis intends to progress SVN-114 through further pharmacology, pharmacokinetic and brain-exposure studies, safety pharmacology and formal abuse-liability assessment.
Consistent with its capital-efficient development model, the Company intends to seek non-dilutive grant and research funding in the UK, European Union and United States to advance SVN-114 towards IND-enabling development.
