Exploration work unearthing highly promising early results

 

Rome Resources plc, (AIM: RMR) the DRC focused tin explorer, is pleased to provide an update on ongoing exploration operations at its optioned claims in southwest New Brunswick, Canada.  A field campaign is underway and initial assays returned from surface outcrop samples and trenching of key mineralised zones will commence imminently.

 

Highlights

Background

On 10 March 2026, Rome Resources entered into option agreements covering a substantial number of claims in southwest New Brunswick (the "Option").  These claims focus on the potential for tin, tungsten and other critical minerals in a large Devonian age Mount Douglas granite system, responsible for the Mount Pleasant tin-tungsten deposit, situated in close proximity to the areas subject to Rome Resources' Option (Figure 1).

The mineralisation is principally contained in greisen zones, areas within the upper margins of a granite system that have been altered by mineral-bearing hydrothermal fluids.  These produce mineralisation zones potentially rich in tin, tungsten, molybdenum and in the case of the Mount Douglas system, indium.

 

In May 2026, a campaign of reconnaissance exploration was initiated, involving field mapping and sampling, in order to identify areas with greisen mineralisation potential, concentrating on both historical records and discovery of new areas of interest.  An example of the greisenised granite at outcrop sampled during Rome Resources' field operations are shown in Figure 2.

Victoria Lake Findings

The central part of the areas subject to the Option is the Victoria Lake project, which runs SW-NE across the roof of the Mount Douglas granite and is host to several historical mineral discoveries.  These have been sampled as part of the 2026 programme, along with the discovery of three new mineral occurrences.  One particular area, east of Victora Lake itself, is especially encouraging, as outcrop sampling has already returned an assay of 0.6% Sn and 0.2% W (Figure 3).  A historical drillhole showed tin mineralisation extending to depth.  So far, this mineralisation has been identified along a 300m wide zone and trenching of the area is due to commence in early September.

Square Lake Findings

Similarly, a mixture of historical mineral occurrences and new discoveries have been identified and sampled.  Initial assays include a strong showing of bismuth at 0.8% from outcrop.

 

Forward Programme

 

The exploration work will continue with targeted trenching and sampling of promising areas into September and October 2026.  It is hoped the findings will lead to a core drilling campaign in 2027. As noted on 9 June 2026, following the 2026 field programme, Rome Resources will assess its position regarding the exercise of the Option.
