Partnership with King’s College London

Summary by AI BETAClose X

RentGuarantor Holdings PLC has announced a two-year partnership with King’s College London, establishing itself as a professional guarantor partner for the university's student body, which includes approximately 20,000 overseas students. This agreement will facilitate students' ability to secure private rented accommodation in central London, where monthly rental costs range from £2,000 to £2,500, by providing professional guarantor services. The company views overseas students as a significant opportunity, particularly given the Renters’ Rights Act which prohibits rent-in-advance payments as an alternative to a guarantor. This partnership aligns with RentGuarantor's strategy of developing institutional relationships and provides access to a substantial potential addressable student population.

RentGuarantor Holdings PLC

(the “Company” or “RentGuarantor”)

Partnership with King’s College London

RentGuarantor (AIM: RGG), a leading provider of rent guarantee services, which includes property protection, to tenants and landlords in the UK1 private rental sector, is pleased to announce a two-year partnership agreement (the “Agreement”) with King’s College London (“KCL” or the “University”), a world-renowned university that is ranked fourth in the UK by total enrolment.

Under the terms of the Agreement, RentGuarantor will serve as a professional guarantor partner for KCL, providing the University’s student body, including approximately 20,000 overseas students, with the ability to secure a guarantor through the Company’s professional guarantor solution. The partnership will help support students seeking accommodation in central London, close to the University campuses, where average student rental costs range from approximately £2,000 to £2,500 per month, according to Rightmove.

The Board believes that overseas students present a significant opportunity for the Company, given that international students are more likely to have limited access to a UK resident who can act as a guarantor, and, therefore, often require the services of a professional guarantor to secure private rented accommodation. The Renters’ Rights Act has exacerbated this market dynamic, increasing the relevance of professional guarantor services by prohibiting rent-in-advance payments as an alternative means of securing a tenancy.

The Agreement supports the Company’s strategy of developing university and other institutional relationships alongside its existing landlord, letting agent and industry operator network.

Paul Foy, CEO of RentGuarantor, commented: “We are delighted to have executed this agreement with King’s College London, which will see RentGuarantor serve the University as a professional guarantor partner for its student body.

“King’s College London is renowned globally for its exceptional education and world-leading research capabilities, and this agreement is designed to support its students, particularly those relocating from overseas, by reducing barriers to securing private rented accommodation and allowing them to focus on their academic goals.

“For RentGuarantor, this agreement provides access to a substantial potential addressable student population, the fourth largest in the UK, and therefore a significant pool of prospective tenants who may require a professional guarantor. The timing of the agreement is also particularly positive, with Master’s students beginning to enrol from November through to February. We look forward to working closely with King’s College London to support eligible students in securing accommodation, while positioning the Company to capitalise on a highly attractive opportunity within London's dynamic rental market.”
