Unified Patent Court grants preliminary injunction against MGI Tech GmbH relating to CycloneSEQ sequencing platform

16 September 2026

Oxford Nanopore Technologies plc (LSE: ONT), the company delivering a new generation of nanopore‑based molecular sensing, announces that the Munich Local Division of the Unified Patent Court has granted a preliminary injunction against MGI Tech GmbH relating to the CycloneSEQ-WT02, CycloneSEQ- WY01, G100-ER and G400-ER systems and any other sequencer system embodying materially the same sequencing technology (the "Cyclone Sequencing Systems").

The preliminary injunction follows Oxford Nanopore's application for provisional measures claiming that the Cyclone Sequencing Systems infringe two of its patents (EP 2 422 198 and EP 2 715 343).

Under the order, MGI Tech GmbH must refrain from making, offering, placing on the market, using, importing, storing, supplying or offering to supply the Cyclone Sequencing Systems and related flow cells. The injunction applies in Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and in Ireland (in Ireland injunction is limited to Cyclone Sequencing System used with a flow cell). The order is effective immediately and enforceable pending any appeal.

MGI Tech GmbH is subject to penalty payments for any non-compliance.

Oxford Nanopore will commence proceedings seeking a permanent injunction and the Court has scheduled the trial hearing for October 2027.

Oxford Nanopore remains committed to protecting the intellectual property ("IP") that underpins its nanopore sensing platform. The Company regards its IP, protected through a global patent portfolio and continued investment in innovation, as fundamental to delivering value for customers, partners and shareholders worldwide.
